For de fleste er det ikke nok \u201dbare\u201d \u00e5 leve lenger, men veldig mange \u00f8nsker \u00e5 utsette kroppens aldring.<\/p><p>Den \u00f8kende levealderen f\u00f8rer til at eldre utgj\u00f8r en stadig st\u00f8rre del av v\u00e5r befolkning. \u00a0At hver og en tar ansvar for sin egen aldring er ikke bare viktig for den enkelte, men ogs\u00e5 for at samfunnet v\u00e5rt skal fortsette \u00e5 v\u00e6re b\u00e6rekraftig.<\/p><p>N\u00e5r vi blir eldre kan svekket muskulatur f\u00e5 fatale f\u00f8lger. Det kan blant annet bidra til \u00f8kt risiko for fall, redusert evne til \u00e5 daglige gj\u00f8rem\u00e5l, samt at det \u00e5 f\u00f8le seg svak kan p\u00e5virke selvf\u00f8lelsen.<\/p><p>Ukentlig f\u00e5r jeg sp\u00f8rsm\u00e5l fra pasienter om den naturlige utviklingen til muskulaturen svekkes n\u00e5r man blir eldre. Svaret er \u201cJa\u201d dersom du er inaktiv. Studier har vist at dersom man er inaktiv fra 40-50 \u00e5rs alder, reduseres muskelmassen med 8% per ti\u00e5r. N\u00e5r vi passerer 75 \u00e5r akselererer kurven og studier har vist at inaktive mister mer enn 15 % muskelmasse per ti\u00e5r (Janssen 2000).<\/p><p>Den gode nyheten er at nyere forskning viser at muskulaturen ikke automatisk reduseres med alder, men heller ved at muskulaturen ikke blir tilstrekkelig aktivert. Dette b\u00f8r v\u00e6re god motivasjon for alle som \u00f8nsker \u00e5 utsette aldringen<em>.<\/em><\/p><p>Bilde nedenfor ble jeg minnet p\u00e5 av v\u00e5re p\u00e5 kollegaer p\u00e5 Nimi som i forrige uke henviste til studien av Wroblewsk 2011.<\/p><p>P\u00e5 bildet til venstre ser vi hvordan fettet dominerer i muskulaturen til en mann p\u00e5 74 \u00e5r som er inaktiv. P\u00e5 bildet til h\u00f8yre ser vi muskulaturen til en aktiv mann p\u00e5 70 som driver variert trening.<\/p><p>For eldre som av forskjellige grunner allerede har svekket muskulatur har vi ogs\u00e5 gode nyheter.
