Hvor farlig er egentlig stress? Er det kun negativt, eller kan det ogs\u00e5 v\u00e6re godt for noe?<\/p><p><strong>Hva er stress?<\/strong><\/p><p>I f\u00f8lge Helsedirektoratet kan stress defineres som en tilstand av \u00f8kt psykologisk, fysiologisk og atferdsmessig beredskap, det vil si kroppens alarmberedskap. Det som skjer n\u00e5r kroppen blir stresset er at den mobiliserer energi, eller med andre ord, gj\u00f8r seg klar til innsats. Kroppen skiller da blant annet ut stresshormonet kortisol.<\/p><p><strong>Hvor skadelig er stress?<\/strong><\/p><p>Nyere forsking viser at vi med fordel kan endre m\u00e5ten vi omtaler stress. En stressreaksjon er en normal reaksjon og betraktes i seg selv ikke som farlig. Psykisk stress er mentale utfordringer som holder hjernen i gang, og kan bidra til at vi utvikler oss og kan gi innhold i tilv\u00e6relsen.<\/p><p>Stress viser seg ikke \u00e5 v\u00e6re skadelig for helsa med mindre du\u00a0<em>tror<\/em>\u00a0det er farlig for deg, i f\u00f8lge forsking. Forsking viser at de som oppgir et h\u00f8yt stressniv\u00e5 har ca 43% st\u00f8rre sannsynlighet for \u00e5 d\u00f8 tidlig sammenliknet med de som oppgir ikke \u00e5 ha et h\u00f8yt stressniv\u00e5. Dette gjelder imidlertid KUN de som mente at stresset de ble utsatt for er farlig. De som ikke knytter h\u00f8yt stressniv\u00e5 opp mot fare for helsa klarer seg helt fint, til og med\u00a0<em>bedre<\/em>\u00a0enn de som oppgir et lavt stressniv\u00e5. Det vil si at stress kan v\u00e6re helsefremmende og sunt s\u00e5 lenge en opplever en viss kontroll og mestring, i tillegg til en forventning om at stresset ikke er farlig.<\/p><p>Kognitiv aktiveringsteori (CATS) viser hvordan vi, basert p\u00e5 det vi tidligere har l\u00e6rt, opplever utfordringer og stress forskjellig. Forventninger til om vi klarer \u00e5 l\u00f8se utfordringene med et godt resultat er med p\u00e5 \u00e5 bestemme om vi f\u00e5r helseplager eller ikke. Hvis individet har en positiv forventning om utfallet av situasjonen (mestring), vil belastningen kun resultere i kortvarig fysisk og psykisk aktivering. Dette er n\u00f8dvendig for \u00e5 h\u00e5ndtere utfordringen, er ikke skadelig og kan gi en positiv effekt.<\/p><p><strong>Nyttige verkt\u00f8y i hverdagen:<\/strong><\/p><ul><li>Man kan p\u00e5virke sin opplevelse av stress ved \u00e5 endre sin indre kommunikasjon. I hverdagen opplever man stadig at det er ting man\u00a0<em>m\u00e5<\/em>\u00a0eller\u00a0<em>b\u00f8r<\/em>\u00a0gj\u00f8re. \u00c5 bytte ut ordene \u00abb\u00f8r\u00bb og \u00abm\u00e5\u00bb med ordet \u00abvelger\u00bb, kan f.eks v\u00e6re en god stressmestringsstrategi. Hjernen forholder seg annerledes til det \u00e5 \u00abburde\u00bb eller \u00abm\u00e5tte\u00bb gj\u00f8re noe (d\u00e5rlig samvittighet og manglende kontroll) versus det \u00e5 \u00abvelge\u00bb noe (et bevisst valg og f\u00f8lelse av kontroll og mestring).<\/li><li>For lettere \u00e5 f\u00e5 til endring av tankem\u00f8nsteret kan man se p\u00e5 hvilke utfordringer i hverdagen man kan p\u00e5virke og hvilke man ikke kan p\u00e5virke. Hva kan man gj\u00f8re noe med?
