Det styrker hjertet, lungene, gir \u00f8kt overskudd og kan bidra til \u00e5 forebygge et betydelig antall sykdommer.<\/p><p>Tidligere denne m\u00e5neden ble det publisert en ny stor studie som viser at god kondisjon ogs\u00e5 kan gj\u00f8re oss bedre rustet mot demens. N\u00e5 har vi alts\u00e5 enda en grunn til \u00e5 f\u00e5 opp dampen og blodpumpa!<\/p><p><strong>Studien<\/strong><\/p><p>Forskere ved NTNU har unders\u00f8kt helse- og treningsdata fra omkring 30000 deltakere. Informasjonen er samlet inn for over 30 \u00e5r siden. P\u00e5 dette tidspunktet hadde ingen av deltakerne demens, men omkring 1000 av disse fikk sykdommen senere i livet. Forskerne har g\u00e5tt tilbake og sett p\u00e5 hvordan kondisjonen var f\u00f8r demensutviklingen ved hjelp av en spesiell beregningsmetode (Atefe mfl. 2019).<\/p><p>Konklusjonen er at de som opprettholdt eller forbedret kondisjonen over tid, reduserte risikoen for \u00e5 f\u00e5 demens. Dette gjelder s\u00e6rlig i 40-60 \u00e5rene. Som ved mange studier, kan man ikke si helt sikkert hva som er \u00e5rsak eller virkning, men funnene gir oss uansett en sv\u00e6rt god grunn til \u00e5 komme i gang med treningen. Og i f\u00f8lge forskerne er det aldri for sent \u00e5 begynne (Atefe mfl. 2019).<\/p><p><strong>Hva er demens?<\/strong><\/p><p>Demens er en fellesbetegnelse p\u00e5 organiske sykdommer i hjernen som vanligvis opptrer i h\u00f8y alder. Vanlige symptomer kan v\u00e6re hukommelsessvikt, svekket orienteringsevne eller intellektuell svikt. Spr\u00e5ket endres og daglige gj\u00f8rem\u00e5l blir vanskeligere. Dette vil variere avhengig av hvilken hjernesykdom som f\u00f8rer til demens. Alzheimers sykdom er den vanligste.<\/p><p><strong><br \/>Hvordan kan god kondisjon p\u00e5virke hjernen?<\/strong><\/p><p>Det er kjent at hjertehelsen p\u00e5virkes positivt av kondisjonstrening. Videre vil et sterkt hjerte ha betydning for utvikling av andre sykdommer, ogs\u00e5 demens. Det er mye som spiller inn her, og en endelig forst\u00e5else rundt dette er ikke fullt utforsket. I alle fall vil trening \u00f8ke blodgjennomstr\u00f8mmingen til hjernen, og ha gunstig effekt p\u00e5 blodkarene i hjernen. Trening vil sannsynligvis frigj\u00f8re verdifulle stoffer i blodet, som igjen har en gunstig p\u00e5virkning p\u00e5 hjernen.<\/p><p><strong>Hvordan trene utholdenhet?<\/strong><\/p><p>Utholdenhet kan defineres som \u201dorganismens evne til \u00e5 arbeide med relativt h\u00f8y intensitet over lengre tid\u201d (Gjerset mfl. 2001). Begrensningene vil i hovedsak omfatte tilgang p\u00e5 energi og oksygen. N\u00e5r man trener utholdenhet, \u00f8nsker man alts\u00e5 \u00e5 p\u00e5virke det maksimale oksygenopptaket i kroppen. Dette bestemmes av tre hovedfaktorer: organismens transportkapasitet (hjerte- og lungefunksjon), kroppssammensetning og muskulaturens evne til \u00e5 ta opp og forbruke oksygen.<\/p><p>Enkelt sagt betyr det at man m\u00e5 bruke store muskelgrupper i en dynamisk bevegelsesform (da vil hjertets pumpekapasistet trenes). Eksempler kan v\u00e6re \u00e5 g\u00e5 raskt i motbakke, jogge, sykle eller g\u00e5 p\u00e5 ski. En fordeling av lett og hard utholdenhetstrening vil kunne gi best resultater. Dette betyr at man b\u00f8r inkludere b\u00e5de langkj\u00f8ring og intervalltrening. Videre vil treningens intensitet v\u00e6re helt avgj\u00f8rende for effekten som oppn\u00e5s. Med \u00f8kende intensitet, kan treningstiden reduseres. Poenget er at man skal bli ordentlig andpusten. Her tror jeg mange har mye \u00e5 g\u00e5 p\u00e5!
