National Assembly member of Foni Bintang Karanai and 2026 presidential aspirant,Hon Bakary K. Badjie has voiced strong dissatisfaction with President Adama Barrow\u2019s \ud835\udc12\ud835\udc2d\ud835\udc1a\ud835\udc2d\ud835\udc1e \ud835\udc28\ud835\udc1f \ud835\udc2d\ud835\udc21\ud835\udc1e \ud835\udc0d\ud835\udc1a\ud835\udc2d\ud835\udc22\ud835\udc28\ud835\udc27 \ud835\udc00\ud835\udc1d\ud835\udc1d\ud835\udc2b\ud835\udc1e\ud835\udc2c\ud835\udc2c, stating that it lacked concrete plans to address the country\u2019s pressing challenges.<\/p>\n
Badjie disagreed with the president\u2019s claim that inflation is declining. He argued that if this was true, Gambians would not be dealing with \ud835\udc1c\ud835\udc28\ud835\udc27\ud835\udc2c\ud835\udc2d\ud835\udc1a\ud835\udc27\ud835\udc2d \ud835\udc29\ud835\udc2b\ud835\udc22\ud835\udc1c\ud835\udc1e \ud835\udc21\ud835\udc22\ud835\udc24\ud835\udc1e\ud835\udc2c and a \ud835\udc2b\ud835\udc1a\ud835\udc29\ud835\udc22\ud835\udc1d\ud835\udc25\ud835\udc32 \ud835\udc30\ud835\udc1e\ud835\udc1a\ud835\udc24\ud835\udc1e\ud835\udc27\ud835\udc22\ud835\udc27\ud835\udc20 \ud835\udc03\ud835\udc1a\ud835\udc25\ud835\udc1a\ud835\udc2c\ud835\udc22.<\/p>\n
\u201cEveryone knows that the Dalasi is depreciating. One Euro is now 82 Dalasis. One Pound is 95 Dalasis. This is definitely alarming,\u201d he said. He urged the president to outline a clear strategy to \ud835\udc2c\ud835\udc2d\ud835\udc1a\ud835\udc1b\ud835\udc22\ud835\udc25\ud835\udc22\ud835\udc33\ud835\udc1e \ud835\udc2d\ud835\udc21\ud835\udc1e \ud835\udc27\ud835\udc1a\ud835\udc2d\ud835\udc22\ud835\udc28\ud835\udc27\ud835\udc1a\ud835\udc25 \ud835\udc1c\ud835\udc2e\ud835\udc2b\ud835\udc2b\ud835\udc1e\ud835\udc27\ud835\udc1c\ud835\udc32.<\/p>\n
Touching on education, Badjie acknowledged the government\u2019s efforts to upgrade Gambia College but questioned the real impact, pointing to the \ud835\udc21\ud835\udc22\ud835\udc20\ud835\udc21 \ud835\udc2e\ud835\udc27\ud835\udc1e\ud835\udc26\ud835\udc29\ud835\udc25\ud835\udc28\ud835\udc32\ud835\udc26\ud835\udc1e\ud835\udc27\ud835\udc2d \ud835\udc2b\ud835\udc1a\ud835\udc2d\ud835\udc1e among its graduates.<\/p>\n
\u201cStudents who studied education, public health, agriculture, and nursing are still without jobs,\u201d he noted. He added that \ud835\udc2e\ud835\udc27\ud835\udc22\ud835\udc2f\ud835\udc1e\ud835\udc2b\ud835\udc2c\ud835\udc22\ud835\udc2d\ud835\udc32 \ud835\udc20\ud835\udc2b\ud835\udc1a\ud835\udc1d\ud835\udc2e\ud835\udc1a\ud835\udc2d\ud835\udc1e\ud835\udc2c are also facing similar struggles.<\/p>\n
On agriculture, Badjie criticized the \ud835\udc25\ud835\udc1a\ud835\udc1c\ud835\udc24 \ud835\udc28\ud835\udc1f \ud835\udc2c\ud835\udc2e\ud835\udc29\ud835\udc29\ud835\udc28\ud835\udc2b\ud835\udc2d \ud835\udc1f\ud835\udc28\ud835\udc2b \ud835\udc1f\ud835\udc1a\ud835\udc2b\ud835\udc26\ud835\udc1e\ud835\udc2b\ud835\udc2c. He said the focus should shift to mechanizing the sector, and promoting the use of organic fertilizers that can be produced locally.<\/p>\n
He also expressed concern over the \ud835\udc29\ud835\udc2b\ud835\udc1e\ud835\udc2c\ud835\udc22\ud835\udc1d\ud835\udc1e\ud835\udc27\ud835\udc2d\u2019\ud835\udc2c \ud835\udc2c\ud835\udc22\ud835\udc25\ud835\udc1e\ud835\udc27\ud835\udc1c\ud835\udc1e \ud835\udc28\ud835\udc27 \ud835\udc2b\ud835\udc22\ud835\udc2c\ud835\udc22\ud835\udc27\ud835\udc20 \ud835\udc1c\ud835\udc2b\ud835\udc22\ud835\udc26\ud835\udc1e in the country, calling it a missed opportunity to reassure the public and present solutions.<\/p>\n
