The disaster sparked an urgent call for reinforcement, with the Red Cross and the National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA) swiftly engaging to assess the situation.<\/p>\n<p>Hon. Ebrima Jawo, Executive Coordinator of Banjul, immediately contacted the NDMA to conduct a full assessment of the disaster. Findings emphasised that blockage of water canals and a weak drainage system remain the major contributing factors.<\/p>\n<p>Hon. Jawo highlighted the need for urgent community responsibility, reminding residents that Banjul\u2019s lowland nature makes it vulnerable to flooding.
